Angela Evelyn Bassett was born in the US. In the TV and film industry, she is known for her many nominations and awards. Bassett was brought up by her aunt in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Her birthplace was and grew up within New York New York. Her mother split with her father at about five. She and her younger sister later relocated from the city of St. Petersburg Florida with their mother. Bassett was in high school and was a fan of John Steinbeck's play Of Mice and Men with James Earl Jones and she decided to become an actress. She was a student at Yale University New Haven Connecticut earning a bachelor's diploma (1980) with a major in African American studies and a master's degree (1983) from the Yale School of Drama. In 1997, she was married Courtney B. Vance who was a fellow actor. Qualification: B.A. graduated from the Yale School of Drama School with a master's degree of African American studies, in the year 1980.
